Meet Monique
I'm Monique, the founder of Help Me Peas, LLC. My journey to creating this business began when I found myself living in my car, struggling to qualify for various resources that were supposed to help people like me. It was a challenging time, but it opened my eyes to the reality that many people in our communities are facing similar struggles.
Help Me Peas was born out of my desire to be on the helping side of things. I grow organic food in various spaces, focusing on crops that communities enjoy and need. My goal is to eventually collaborate with local chefs to prepare meals for the unhoused and those facing food insecurity. Though I still need to navigate the vendor license process, I'm committed to making a difference.
I'm a Black, lesbian, veteran woman, and those aspects of my identity shape who I am and the communities I belong to. These are the groups where I've found my strongest allies, and I believe they matter because they represent a diverse range of experiences and perspectives. At Help Me Peas, we aim to provide fresh, nutritious food to those who need it most. If you'd like to get involved or know someone who could benefit from our work, please reach out. We're building a community of support, and we'd love for you to be part of it.
